Imported car check UAE

Before you buy any imported used car in the UAE, decode the VIN and check open safety recalls, reported complaints, stolen status and the car's public listing history. Confirm the car is what the seller says — for AED 39.

Full report AED 39 — one-time payment, results in about 60 seconds.

Imported car check — enter the VIN to verify

Carlytics is a VIN decoder and vehicle history service for buyers of imported used cars in the UAE. Enter any VIN and the report confirms the factory build, lists open safety recalls, summarises reported owner complaints, runs a stolen-vehicle check and surfaces the VIN's public listing history — including where a car has been advertised as salvage or rebuilt. Full reports from AED 39, one-time payment. It does not include auction photos or a guaranteed title register.

What the report shows — and what it doesn't

We would rather you trust the report than be surprised by it. Here is exactly what a check reveals for a US-imported car — for AED 39.

What you get

 • Full VIN decode — make, model, year, engine, transmission, body style and plant of origin
 • Open safety recalls still outstanding on that make, model and year
 • Reported owner-complaint patterns and known issues for the model
 • Stolen-vehicle check against public databases
 • The VIN's public online listing history — including where a car has been advertised as salvage or rebuilt, plus market-value context

What it does not include

 • US auction photos from salvage yards
 • Auction bid histories or final hammer prices
 • A guaranteed government title-brand register — no single global title register exists
 • Live odometer readings for a car with no registration record we can reach

Reading an American car in a Gulf showroom

An American-built car in the Emirates has already crossed an ocean and at least one records system. Here is what survives the journey, what does not, and how to tell the difference.

Start with the arithmetic that catches people first: American clusters read in miles. A dash showing 78,000 on a US-built car is roughly 125,000 km, not 78,000 km. Some cars are converted on import and some are not, and a listing quoting the raw dash figure as kilometres is understating the car by more than a third. Confirm the unit before you compare the asking price to anything, because it moves the value more than almost any other single fact.

Next, understand what a title brand is and is not. In the United States, a car declared an economic total loss by an insurer is branded, and the brand attaches to the title within the state that issued it. It is a financial judgement, not an engineering one: a lightly damaged car with a low market value can be branded while a heavily repaired expensive one is not. Once the car is exported and re-registered abroad, the brand does not travel with the local paperwork, and the car is simply a registered vehicle here. That is not fraud in itself — but it does mean the absence of a brand on Gulf paperwork proves nothing at all about the car's past.

There is no single global title register that anyone can query, and any product implying otherwise is overselling. What can still surface the history is the trail the car left while it was on public sale: a VIN that appeared in advertised stock described as salvage, rebuilt or repairable leaves a record we can sometimes see, and that check is part of the report. It is a real signal when it fires and an inconclusive one when it does not, and we will not dress the second case up as a clean bill of health.

Then read the car against the market it was built for. An American-market build carries American equipment, American emissions calibration and American recall campaigns. We apply North American reference data only to North American VINs, so a US-built car decodes correctly and completely — and a European-built car of the same nameplate decodes against European data instead. It is worth checking whether an open American recall campaign has actually been carried out on the specific car, since a campaign completed in the United States before export will not necessarily be reflected in any record you can see here.

Finally, the climate. Cars imported from the northern United States arrive with salt exposure underneath and then spend the rest of their lives in Gulf heat, which is an unusually punishing combination for brake lines, fuel lines and suspension mounting points. Cars from the southern states arrive without the salt but often with sun-damaged interiors and heat-fatigued cooling systems. Neither pattern appears in any database, in any country, at any price. A lift and a torch find both in twenty minutes, and that inspection is worth more than the AED 39 report on any car where the two disagree.

The sensible order, then: decode the VIN for free and confirm what the car actually is; ask directly how and when it entered the country and ask for the import paperwork; buy the full report for the recall, known-issue, theft and listing-history layers; and then have an independent workshop inspect it before any money changes hands. Each step is cheaper than the one after it, and each one can end the process early.

What we check for when preparing a report

Carlytics is the largest online database of used vehicle records. It contains more than a billion data points from all over the world.

Damage

Damage

We check if the car has been in any accidents or had serious repairs. Damage can lower the car's value and cause safety problems. Our report helps you avoid cars with hidden damage that sellers might not tell you about.

Mileage rollbacks

Mileage rollbacks

We look for signs that the mileage might have been changed. Some sellers lower the mileage to make the car look newer. We check mileage records from different databases to make sure the numbers are honest.

Specs & equipment

Specs & equipment

We list the car's original features and equipment. This helps you see if anything is missing or changed. You'll know exactly what the car should have when it left the factory.

Safety

Safety

Manufacturers typically issue safety recalls to fix harmful defects. Make sure your car doesn't have any before taking it on the road and also learn its general safety rating.

Natural disaster

Natural disaster

Check if the vehicle has been damaged in floods, hurricanes, or other natural disasters.

Stolen car database

Stolen car database

We check police and insurance records to see if the car has been reported stolen. Buying a stolen car can lead to big legal and financial problems. Our report gives you peace of mind.

Photos

Photos

If available, we include old photos or auction pictures of the car.
These photos can show past damage, repairs, or changes that you might not notice in person.

Market value

Market value

We compare prices from many sources to show the car's fair market value.
This helps you know if the price is good or too high, so you can make a smart deal.

Why Run a VIN Check Before Buying a Used Car?

An estimated 30-50% of used cars sold cross-border in Europe have tampered mileage. Carlytics catches odometer rollbacks, undisclosed accident damage, stolen-vehicle flags, and open safety recalls by scanning 900M+ records across 47+ countries -- all from a single 17-character VIN, starting free.

Don't risk thousands on a used car with hidden problems. A free VIN check takes seconds and can save you from costly surprises.

Detect Odometer Fraud

An estimated 30-50% of used cars in Europe have tampered mileage. A VIN history check reveals odometer rollback and mileage discrepancies that sellers try to hide.

Uncover Hidden Accident Damage

Structural damage from past accidents may not be visible during a physical inspection. A vehicle history report shows collision records the seller may not disclose.

Verify Stolen Vehicle Status

Over 600,000 vehicles are stolen in the EU each year, many resold across borders. Our stolen car database check confirms the vehicle is legally clear before you buy.

Check Cross-Border Import History

Vehicles imported from abroad may have different specs, undisclosed damage, or missing service records. Trace the full registration and import history with a VIN check.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check an imported used car before buying it in the UAE?
Enter the 17-character VIN into the search box above. The free check decodes the make, model, year, engine and open recalls. The full report (AED 39) adds reported owner-complaint patterns, a stolen-vehicle check and the VIN's public online listing history — so you can confirm the car matches the seller's description before you pay.
What should I check before buying an imported car?
Start with the VIN and confirm it matches the car and its documents. Check for open safety recalls that may still be unrepaired. Review reported owner-complaint patterns and known issues for the model. Run a stolen-vehicle check. Look at the VIN's public listing history for any salvage or rebuilt wording or price red flags. Then have an independent workshop physically inspect the car. Carlytics covers the first five in one report.
What does the imported car check actually show?
For any VIN, the report confirms the factory build (make, model, year, engine, body and plant of origin), lists open safety recalls, summarises reported owner-complaint patterns and known issues, runs a stolen-vehicle check against public databases, and surfaces the VIN's public listing history — including where a car has been advertised as salvage or rebuilt, plus market-value context.
Does the check include auction photos or a title register?
No — and we say so plainly. The report does not include salvage-auction photos, bid records, or a guaranteed government title register (no single global title register exists). It gives you the VIN's true identity, its recall and complaint record, its stolen-vehicle status and any public listing history — enough to catch most misrepresented cars before your money moves.
Is it worth checking a car that looks perfect?
Especially then. Cosmetic repairs can hide a serious history, and imported cars are the most likely to have a story the seller would rather you did not know. A VIN check costs a fraction of the car and takes about a minute — cheap insurance against an expensive mistake.
How much does the imported car check cost?
The full report is AED 39 — a one-time payment with no subscription. The free VIN decode is always available for the basic make, model, year, engine and recall lookup.
