Every Skoda vehicle carries a unique 17-character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) that acts as the vehicle's fingerprint.
Skoda uses TMB as its primary WMI code, with TMP for certain models. As a VW Group brand, Skoda VINs follow the group's encoding scheme: position 4 for model class, position 5 for body type, and position 6 for engine/transmission. Skoda shares many platform codes with VW models. The VIN is split into three main sections: the World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI, positions 1–3), the Vehicle Descriptor Section (VDS, positions 4–9) and the Vehicle Identifier Section (VIS, positions 10–17).
