Bertram founded Carlytics in 2025 after watching too many friends and relatives get burned buying used cars across EU borders — cars sold as "one careful owner" that turned out to be wound-back imports, salvage rebuilds, or simply the wrong engine variant under the bonnet. With a background in automotive engineering and data systems, he set out to fix the European used-car information gap the way it should have been fixed years ago: by stitching together public registries, official inspection databases, and safety records into one report any buyer can afford.

Our Mission
The European used-car market moves millions of vehicles across borders every year. A car first registered in Germany, traded in the Netherlands, repaired in Poland, and finally sold in Romania accumulates a paper trail spread across half a dozen national registries — none of which talk to each other. Buyers usually see only the last page of that story, which is also the page sellers have the most incentive to edit.
Odometer fraud alone costs European consumers an estimated EUR 6 billion every year. Add hidden accident repairs, undisclosed taxi or rental history, outstanding finance, and stolen vehicles laundered across borders, and the average cross-border buyer is making one of the largest purchases of their life with the smallest fraction of the relevant facts.
Carlytics exists to close that gap. We aggregate data from European national vehicle registries, official inspection databases, safety recall systems, theft registries, and market-intelligence feeds, and present what we find in one plain-language report priced so anyone can afford it before signing anything. We deliberately publish in 21 languages because the people most exposed to cross-border fraud are the ones least likely to be reading English.
